NGAAD: Casino and Vox

Post by MaplegloMatt »

Here is a picture of my annivesary present from my lovely wife. Since I was about as subtle a Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" asking for a Red Rider BB Gun, she knew exactly what I wanted. It's an '06 Korean made Epiphone Casino and a new Vox Mini3 amp. The guitar plays a smooth as butter with a slighty chunky neck which feels fantastic. It is in virtually new condition and the fit and finish are really nice for an import.
The Vox amp is unbelievable for $100. Totally portable, battery or DC powered with so many tones and features it defies logic. For home practice I don't think you can beat it.

Nice one Matt.

Casinos can be really good and the MIK models have a particularly good reputation.

Thanks guys,
I'm really having a blast with this guitar. I am mainly a bass player so my six string skills are really just for my own amusement. I've always had an acoustic around the house but never really felt my playing justified buying an electric. All I can say is that I'm sorry I waited so long to get this guitar. Unplugged it's great and through the little Vox it's amazing. I'm using the AC30 voicing w/reverb at the moment.
Alot of people will upgrade the electrics on the lower end Casinos but I find that the Epi P90's are really good. For my money, this is a hell of a deal. Supposedly the Korean made ones are a little better than Chinese ones but I've also heard that recent China production is now very good so I guess it's debatable. But I will say that for a "budget" guitar the quality is outstanding.
Ok, I've got to get back to some of the John Lee Hooker licks I've been working on....the snarl of the rear P90 is just killer for this type of stuff!
