Probably more to do who uses a zero fret or not.

During lunch break I was just browsing some Gretsch forums, and man, do they write uninformed humbug on this model. And I mean it wasn't just the lame "if you want a 335 buy a 335, if you want a Gretsch, buy a Gretsch" stereotype stuff, it was pure nonsense, especially about the PUs. Personally I think it;s great there's more and more after market PUs that allows you to break these stereotypes of looks like e.g. Tele, must sound like Tele. I'm sure that if there were proper aftermarket PUs that will make your Rick sound like a 335 with 57 Classics which can be swapped without the need to bodily harm the guitar there will be a decent enough market.

yeahh, it's amazing! I read a WIKIPEDIA article called the Zero Fret: the writer says that "zero frets are always used in cheap guitars"

"Cheap" as in Gretsch, Hofner, Magnatone, and Mosrite guitars that people pay thousands of dollars to buy??

Yeahh, right, real cheap guitars! Those brands are some of the most prized and sought-after guitars in the history of electric guitars, and they all have zero frets. many other "cheap" guitars that use zero frets are Framus and Vox.

Django Reinhardt, the 20th Century's most renowned guitarist, played a Selmer-Maccaferri guitar which has a zero fret !!

Even Chet Atkins asked Gretsch to make him a guitar with a zero fret.

Now there's another zero fret kit called Zero-Glide for FENDER guitars !! Talk about cheapening a cheap Fender !!

the truth is that there are many false prophets in the guitar world, people who just don't know what they are talking about, but they sure write Wikipedia articles!

Ouch JB! my zero fretter has taken me to level 37 in my song wrotering, come get with it dewd!   ...

Congrats Werner on your lovely unique guitar, I do have 1 pair of pants that color you can borrow for a gig  !

BTW, just as Dave Grohl has that Blue Trini, I just don't see Chris Cornell with it, it is aesthetically discomforting...they both seem like LP/SG folks :?:
