Actually that's an important experiment and I would love to hear what a 4003 w/button-top hi-gains at the 4002 positions and a standard bubinga fretboard sounds like. Please upload some good sound clips when the bass is strung up. Front PU, back, both, pick, fingerstyle, rounds, flats, etc.

Y'know Brandon, you've got to bring it to the next GTG. It's some kind of rule, I'm sure.

The 4002 style without a giant pickup rout at the neck/body joint, could make a great bolt-on Ric model. Easily adjustable neck tilt, no negative neck angle ever, no body wing delamination... I hope someone at RIC reads this. Imagine that with a satin-finish walnut body and a maple board like the W Series.

Wow!

This will be the first Rickie bass that will leave the factorie with a decent truss rod cavity routing since a loooong time!

Brendan, can you make sure the CNC guy is taking note of what you did?

That is the way it should be done!

I agree! That should be factory standard IMPIO (in my probably ignorant opinion). However it looks like the routed the whole neck area out later and plugged it with a new piece of maple, if I understand correctly.

Sorry for not posting any progress pictures last week everyone! The bass has been sprayed with the first sealer coats and finally has color! I wanted to go with an aged white on it and it has been sprayed with a really nice cream color. My phone takes horrible pictures and for some reason the bass looks darker in this picture than it does in person. Any further steps I will be sure to get a picture in better light so the real color shows through more. Next it gets scraped, some more sanding, finish spray, more sanding, fret leveled and then it gets buffed!
