Same here. At the time, I had just started dabbling into bass playing (I play the guitar). Money situation was tight back then, so I couldn't afford the CS. Finally, when the 4003S was announced earlier this year, I decided to go for it. I was told it would take a year to get mine, so that gives me time to save up some money.aceonbass wrote:I've wanted a CS since they came out, but was never able to afford one when they were in production. I may pickup up a 4001S in MG, deck it out with the appropriate parts, and have Pat Wilkins refinish it like he did my eight string.
When I placed my order, I was wondering what colour I should order. With Chris Squire being my favourite bass player since my teenage years and Paul McCartney whose bass playing I have come to appreciate later on, MG seems to be the one for me. But then, the MG colour does not look like Squire's RM. In the end, I ordered an FG, since that was the original colour of both Squire's and McCartney's bass.
I have no plans on refinishing mine, but I would like to swap the knobs to the vintage type. RIC does not make the real Horseshoe pickups anymore, so I will stick with the stock pickups.
