Love the complex customised control layout.

That's the "punk" control isn't it? I'm guessing he rolled it off a bit for that one.

Hi ya Brett! Long time no see!

Way back in the day, my bass teacher told me that if you didn't play with your tone and volume pots wide open you were an indulgent show-off, though his turn of phrase may have been more colourful. He would love Billy-Joe's mods - as long as that single volume pot stays wide open.

Funny that. When i heard Bilie Joe mention in some interview that he's got a Rickenbacker (named Rick... oops, the surname escapes me somehow), i was very surprised. Looks quite, ahem, minimalistic.
Was kinda hoping he was going to use the Rick at the show in Pasadena on Sept 16th this year... you know, Bille Joe coming out with a blJetglo Rickenbacker and doing "Too dumb to die", ah, sweet dreams. Okay, i shouldn't be asking for too much, still that day he sounded a lot better than on this vid from — i guess some 10 years ago? Even though he mentioned at some point that he's "lost his voice". Oh well, maybe it's not the right time for Rick yet, maybe later.
Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
