NGD--620

Post by Wildgift »

Welp, it looks like I got one of the only Midnight Blue 620s in the USA. After a boatload of research online, it was in my backyard at Truetone in Santa Monica. It’s gorgeous and plays like a dream. I traded it for my Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar and I’m loving its compact feel and amazing craftsmanship. It sounds lovely. I had had a 330 a while back and for whatever reason find this much easier to play than both the Jag and the 330. Onwards!

You B..A..S..T..A..R..D!
I am in the market for a Midnight Blue 620. I have a Midnight Blue 330 and am looking for its sibling, the 620 in Midnight Blue. I searched all over. Only one I could find was one modded with three pickups. Didn't want that. Man, you bought my dream guitar!

Great looker you have there. Oh, that is one fine looking guitar. Good luck with her. Hopefully I'll be joining your MB 620 club.

(I am actually looking to buy around Christmas time. Saving my pennies and looking to put a down payment on an order for one.)

Congrats on the new guitar! but, not to burst your bubble, but that's a pretty standard guitar as Ricks go. Here are a few more for sale:

https://reverb.com/item/11612803-ricken ... night-blue

https://reverb.com/item/6608016-rickenb ... night-blue

https://reverb.com/item/6944969-rickenb ... eo-620-mid

Want a 12er?

https://reverb.com/item/6156758-rickenb ... 620-12-mid

All in California, too.

The RRF register has 141 620 MID's in 6 & 12 versions, fwiw. On bog standard models IIRC the RRF typically has about 5-10% of instruments registered. This is a VERY rough estimate, though.

"Everything looks better in black and white"- Paul, Simon.

My Jetglo 620 just came today. I got it used for $1350 with a couple of headstock nicks, but otherwise pretty clean. It's a 2007. I have been wanting one for ages and my wife didn't get me a present for my 50th birthday, so I think she was tacitly implying that I should just get what I want, right?, Right?

I also have a 330 12 string and I have owned 330 6 strings and I'm immediately struck by how comfortable this neck is. It's very playable and there is certainly a difference in the resonance with this guy. It came with light strings on it, I should oder a set of Rick 10s and see how that feels before messing around too much.

10s should feel really nice on the 620. I am currently Rick guitar-less (I do have some Rick basses), but I've had a couple of 12 strings (660/12 and 730/12L) and a few 6 stringers (660 75th Anniversary, 360V64, and a '67 330).
