Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Bump, since I just got my old S/8 I owned in the 90s back. Kevin, if I may take this project over for you please let me know. (Selfish... I wants one of these bridges!) Thanks! J
Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Still very much interested here, if you manage to get the saddles done.

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Let's get an accurate count on how many are wanted and I'll check with the tool shop to see how busy they are.
Anyone remember if any design changes were needed?
I know the set-screw was too big. Anything else?
BTW, I have an idea that I'm working on for a palm mute also. If I can get that worked out, I may send a few out for trial runs.

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
I have a bridge. Having spare saddles never hurts.

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Cool - I've got info from Kevin and am beginning to try to identify someone to make them. Suggestions via pm are welcome.
Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Please count me in for one too - I will prepay if needed:
Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
I don't mind pre-paying either.

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Hey gang - I have info... looking like if we get about 10-15 made, they will be $200-250 each. Who's still in? These may be a little more than the last run, but I've heard the plating on those was not great, so these will be made by a different manufacturer, and plated by a different plater. Please pm me if you want to pledge a pre-order. Thanks! J
Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Remember...If you're stringing your 8 stringers with the octave first, you'll need to have a couple of the saddles made offset, or wider with it's companion saddle narrower. I can't remember which saddles now, but I detailed it much earlier in the thread. If you don't have this done, you won't be able to center some of the strings properly.

Is this the entire assembly, with saddles and springs and everything?jdogric12 wrote:Hey gang - I have info... looking like if we get about 10-15 made, they will be $200-250 each. Who's still in? Here it is Dane!
aceonbass wrote:Because these 8 saddle bridges essentially split the stock saddles in half, then relocate the saddle foot to the middle of those saddles, the fundamental E and A string saddles will need to be slotted almost on the edge between them and their corresponding octave string. Ideally, the saddles for the E and A fundamental strings should be wider than their corresponding octave strings. I know this because I set up two of these bridges from the original batch for customers. As I remember, these bridges also used larger diameter height adjusting Allen screws, which means their pockets in the tailpiece will need to be enlarged.
Gonna find out answers to all these questions. Thanks for your input and "pre-orders," guys! Need a few more though to make this happen at the price I've quoted. At the current "pre-order" level, the cost will be almost double! Eek!!!
Kenny - it is the assembly and saddles. I'll find out if springs are included. I assume those are easy and cheap to source if not.
Dane, I'll find out about the offset saddle thing, and the height adjustment/seating screws being wider in diameter. I see your points, makes sense. Did anyone in the first run have issues with these and care to share their thoughts?

Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
Cool! I’m in, pending employment and funds. What do you think the turnaround is?
Re: 8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles
I'm sending some springs in the care-package of left-over parts to you, Jason.I'll find out if springs are included. I assume those are easy and cheap to source if not.
They will need to be cut down to proper length.
