A Rickenbacker Road Rock Playlist?

Post by Sugarcane »

I play in a band that’s based about 100 miles away from my home, so I hit the road every week to rehearse and gig. My car is always loaded with music, and I was thinking about putting together a long playlist with songs that feature at least one Rickenbacker guitar for road trips (if it’s just the Bass, please specify)...

Let’s start!

You could start with a whole lot of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, but that is a very obvious choice.

Some Peter Gabriel era Genesis would qualify.

The Who

Keep ‘em coming!

I was thinking “The Pusher” by Steppenwolf

I wonder, though, if a Rick was used at all on the original record.

Most of Sleep's discography features a Rickenbacker bass.

The bassist of Sleep pretty much plays Rickenbackers exclusively, and also plays in Om:

Scott Reeder also used a Rickenbacker bass in the "desert rock" band Kyuss:

Guy Picciotto from Fugazi usually uses Rickenbacker 330s and a 370, but modded with HB-1s:

Blossoms from Stockport in England all use Rickenbacker guitars and bass, and other brands but the Rick's are the main ones.

This is the song that got me interested in Rickenbackers in 1987. Not really much of a Beatles or Byrds guy.

If I'm not with you
I'm not so much of a man

Daniel and Miles. Thanks very much for posting these you tube videos.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Let's get real here, OK? Here's the band that helped make Rickenbacker a household name, at least among guitarists.
