$3000 is pretty steep for a V63, so consider yourself lucky, really.Baz Cooper wrote:UNFORTUNATELY It did't work out...I couldn't come up withy the $3,000 that the seller wanted...I could only come up with $2500....oh well.....maybe someday...

Seems a bit steep to me too... who knows, maybe the seller will call you in a week or two asking if you are still interested?????

Sadly, at that price it is more likely to go to a collector than to a musician who will play it.
If I had $3000 of crazy money looking to be spent, I'd buy it and play the snot out of it! The only thing better than a Rickenbacker bass is... two Rickenbacker basses!

Turn on, tune up, rock out!

It's a '72 Carvin... Hofner neck... just something I have liked for decades.

I like the pickup spacing on it.
Re: May Be Picking UP a 1985 4001V63 MG Need advice
it's a neat little bass... short scale, you can play it with one hand. Nice tones too. The body is a thick slab of maple... you feel this guy after a while but I do love playing it. I had one back when, bought from Carvin along with amp and cab (2x15). Still have the amp and cab. in 74 got my 4001 and was a very happy guy! A few years later I needed to make rent so the Carvin was sold. I really missed that bass. A few years ago this one popped up on a GC website. So I got it for old times sake!
