360v64 or 360c63 Visual Distictions
Hello.
This is in regards to the following guitar https://reverb.com/item/27397014-2014-r ... cker-360-6
I asked the seller if it is a 360c63 or 360v64. From what I understand, the only visual distinction (from the outside) is if the guitar has a 7.25" fretboard radius, then it is the 360c63.
Some Rickenbacker aficionados insist that the shape of the horns as well as the tint of the inlays are distinguishing feature as well.
Which model do you guys think this is? I can not get confirmation from the seller.
Thank you,
Steve

Shape of the horns, inlay materials & headstock shape are the biggest tells for a six-string, it's easier to tell a 12-string apart since the TRC is an entirely different shape. Also the black bobbins on the pickups will have a little dimple on each one for a C63 (since they have scatterwound toasters versus high-output toasters on the V64).
This is a C63 six-string, and part of a special run made for Guitar Center in 2014 only.
Should be a great guitar, scoop it up as these don't turn up for sale often. Call Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana, Calif. to get a better price than Reverb. Norm's has been in business longer than anybody, they're a trustworthy dealer.

Steve I believe you are looking at a 360C63 of which perhaps a couple dozen were made in 2014. There were no 360V64 models made in 2014 unless it was a special run of which I am unaware. I await the comments of others.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

The serial number should say enough. V64's were discontinued erly 2000's
the outline shape is different too. The curve behind the upper horn is deeper on the C series and is more like the originals.
you can see this clearly in this picture of my V64

a 'hot' toaster from the V series also has no ejector marks (4 in total on the side of the raised bobbin segments) and has 6 phillips screws.

Thank you very much for the kind responses. The amount of knowledge you possess is impressive. I have no idea how you know these things, but I am glad you do!

Edited for being a stupid question. Why I was looking for 360c63's on ebay from Japan is beyond me!

That's a modded V64, not a C63.crisp wrote:I have run into a bit of confusion. After doing a bit more digging, there appears to be some 360c63's with RED side markers and an R tailpiece. Any verdict on these guys? Were they made in separate batches? Are these fake? They certainly look legit.
Were there different 360c63 models made for Japanese export and different models/specs for the 2014 Guitar Center run. I am now thoroughly confused. Bridges seem to be "old style" as well on the Japanese 360c63's.
Thank you again for any guidance you can provide.

1987 can never be a C63
At that price they can have mine by the way
