Here's a pic of the neck P/U rout in my '75 4001. If I didnt know any better I would think it was hacked, wonder what the reason for the screws could be. I,m the 2nd owner so I know nobodys been in there cept me.

Looks like someone also poured in epoxy and half filled the neck-pickup rout with it as well. Don't know what the screws could have done.

Speculation:
Screws add weight=less neck dive?

I have heard of peeps using fishing lead weights on cavity for this too.

Maybe an inept attempt to counteract "negative neck angle" by infilling the route with epoxy? If so, it wouldn't work, that would need to be solid maple blocking. Any signs of the neck bending towards the bridge? The screws in the wiring route are truly mysterious.

my guess is someone got frustrated trying to get the wiring to line up with the fostner holes when putting the guard back down :lol:
