My advice is not to make permanent modifications into vintage guitars, if you want them to keep their resale value!!

Re: Advice on 1965 365 with bigsby
Nice guitar, but that price is a bit high for a modified 6-string, in my humble opinion. These aren’t easy guitars to sell at the moment, 12-strings move a lot easier but 6-string models sit around at dealers for ages (unless it’s a rare model). Factor in the bigsby mod, and that price starts looking steep.
I’d put a value on it of closer to $2,800-$3,000 USD. Might be added value in it already being in the U.K., but I can’t say for sure.

Hi all, I've just bought this guitar. It sure is a lovely player and the sound is sublime. I'm going to ditch the bigsby and replace it with an old R tailpiece of the right age. Question is how do i get the holes, that will be left when the bigsby is removed, filled in please? Thanks Dave

You can't, really.cooperman wrote:Hi all, I've just bought this guitar. It sure is a lovely player and the sound is sublime. That's why the guitar needs to be heavily discounted, there is no simple quick fix for screw holes drilled into a guitar.
You can plug the holes with wood (I've heard toothpicks?) and touch-up, but really it's going to be clearly visible no matter what you do. I would just leave the holes alone.
Congrats on the guitar those, post a pic!

Hmmm. It does beg the question as to when the mods were done. If they were done in the late '60's, then the Bigsby is as vintage as the guitar and has a value in and of itself!Ontario_RIC_fan wrote:My advice is not to make permanent modifications into vintage guitars, if you want them to keep their resale value!!

By way of example, I have not seen many of these in recent times.iiipopes wrote:Hmmm. It does beg the question as to when the mods were done. Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
