Re: coronavirus info

Post by iiipopes »

I went to see a friend this weekend. We have known each other 50 years next month. So we were all especially careful as he is a pastor, who has suspended services and posts his weekly sermons on YouTube, and I work in a law office, where we have strict protocols to manage the few inevitable circumstances where we must have live signatures attested by a notary public.

As I drove to see him, and stopped for gas & snacks along the way, with my full face mask, I was appalled by the lack of persons observing and participating in masking and social distancing. I took a package of masks to him and his wife, and of course wore them when we went out to a couple of stores to get a couple of small items. Again, where he lives, I was appalled by the lack of care generally of people.

One thing that especially struck me were some of those who wore masks, both customers and staff of the respective establishments, but only over their mouths, and not over their noses. OK. Wearing a mask over your mouth may prevent you from spreading the virus, but if you don't wear it over your nose, you lose the primary defense against catching it from others.

To quote the police sergeant off the old drama series Hill Street Blues: be careful out there.

The report MMR Vaccine Appears to Confer Strong Protection from COVID-19: Few Deaths from SARS-CoV-2 in Highly Vaccinated Populations reveals that nearly all countries with few or no deaths from COVID-19 have also had large measles-rubella vaccination programs in recent years.

Just exactly Gary. Your comment is appreciated. Political content will be removed.

GS-441524 vs. remdesivir

According to this article GS-441524 is cheaper to produce and may be more effective for treating COVID-19, but Gilead doesn't want to test GS-441524 because they make more money with remdesivir.

There's different species of Eucalyptus and essential oils may vary in composition.

I've using Lemon Eucalyptus bug repellent a lot this summer for mosquitos and other insects.

As of today, worldwide:

Coronavirus Cases:
40,257,387

Deaths:
1,118,075

Also, there have been spikes in the number of cases in a number of countries, which, for some states in the U.S. at least, are leading to strain on ICUs and critical care facilities, so I hope that everyone will continue to stay safe and be careful.

Thirty‐six COVID‐19 cases preventively vaccinated with mumps‐measles‐rubella vaccine: All mild course
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/all.14584

I got the MMR vaccine the day after I found out about this. I talked to the pharmacist about a measles vaccine a couple months before COVID-19 because of what I read about measles, ie. its highly contagious, there's outbreaks at times and it weakens your immune system for a couple years if you get it and recover. It can kill you, too. I didn't talk to a doctor before hand. I just went to Walgreens with a GoodRx coupon and got it. I got the first dose in May and the second in June. Adults are supposed to get a second dose at least 30 days after the first dose.

As a scientist, I would be curious whether you would test positive for COVID-19 antibodies, indicating that you were exposed but successfully fought it off thanks to those injections. 8)
