TR35B Amp for Sale $425/obo
1970s Rickenbacker TR35B amp. VG condition. Is rated 35 watts, but is considerably louder. 1x15 speaker. Here's the description from the RIckenbacker Solid State Amplifier Series catalog:
"MODEL TR-35B...The Model TR-35B is a low-priced, highly portable amplifier, specifically designed to complement a varied range of instruments. The TR-35B combines all the features found on other TR series amplifiers, such as pre-amp in/out, external speaker jack, and a single 15" speaker specially designed for maximum projection built into a surprisingly versatile unit weighing only 35 pounds. Reasonably priced, this conservatively rated 35 watt amplifier is perfect for practicing, recording and performing small club engagements. Its wide range of tonal response makes it the ideal companion for the multi-instrumentalist." Consider trades + cash for Ampeg SB12 or B15. I bought this amp around 1995 and have owned it for the past 27 years. Haven't played much bass, but started up again (using the Lyle/Aria JB in the picture, which is an awesome medium scale early 1970s bass) and am looking for a tube amp, as I love the smell of vacuum tubes in the morning...

Nice! I saw that one on Reverb.
One can have too many bass amps, and I currently do, or else I’d negotiate.
Looks like a good one.

LOL I’m selling because I have too many amps. As a bluesman friend used to say, “You gotta keep peace in the barnyard.” It’s in great condition for a 45-50 year old amp. As I recall, the shop I bought it from in California put a larger power transformer in it before they sold it to me.

What was the reason for doing so?bluzdoctor wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:24 amAs I recall, the shop I bought it from in California put a larger power transformer in it before they sold it to me.

I had one of those. Really nice sounding amp. But It was sold on the path to an Ampeg SB12, a truly great and continually inspiring practice/rehearsal amp, as long as it doesn't need to be moved! Best of luck on your quest.

Not sure why. It was 27 years ago.jps wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 1:35 amWhat was the reason for doing so?bluzdoctor wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:24 amAs I recall, the shop I bought it from in California put a larger power transformer in it before they sold it to me.

What I am wondering is whether the original PT went bad or if the tech thought putting a larger PT in was to "improve" something.bluzdoctor wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 1:37 amNot sure why. I’m not sure; my recollection was that it needed a transformer and they decided to upgrade it. So both reasons?

"Upgrading" power transformers is bogus old-wives-tales stuff. Output transformers are a different thing, however.bluzdoctor wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:34 pm I’m not sure; my recollection was that it needed a transformer and they decided to upgrade it. So both reasons?
