Sergio, I'm looking forward to sharing your seemingly infinite knowledge on the pickup here, as well as your fake-spotting skills!

Okay, here I am at last, Peter/fellows. Many thanks for the warm welcome!
Olá, Andrew.
Richard: no, I had nothing to do with the pickups you mention.
While on the subject of pickups, I wish to stress the fact that RIC are the real pickup experts here, and that actually it was a 4001 (my very first, which I no longer have) that prompted me to start rewinding/building pickups back in early 1981.
I'll try and answer all pickup-related questions that you may have.
Usually I'll be here at the end of the day local time, which translates to roughly the first hours of the afternoon over where most of you are.
Thanks again.

Sergio:

From talking with you I learned how to turn a 4 pole high gain into a 5 pole high gain and then applied that to make high gains into toaster lookalikes ...

Post-1990 high-gains lend themselves nicely to such modifications/conversions. And you can even make them look like '70s/'80s high-gains: sand off both 'ridges' on the bobbin top surface, replace the original polepieces (type 'U' drive screws) with '70s/'80s ones, and spray the whole thing black: instant '70s/'80s look.

I believe it would be called "Extended Headroom", Nate! Image

It's about time that Sergio got the recognition he deserves! How many pickups does it take to make to get your own section? Image

Congratulations!

I noticed, Nate.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Gee, I have no idea how many pickups I have built/rewound since 1981, but contrary to what you might think there were not that many - just a few dozens, actually.
