Doing shots and eating flaming corn chips sounds like it could be the next big fad a frat parties if we can manage to get the word out.

Thanks again CJ for the clarification.

I figured the tomato was a fruit but who am I to argue with the School Board or the US Government? I was more focused on the potato part of the equation and no one here has argued against the potato's status as a vegetable (yet). Besides, aren't fruits and vegetables together on the same level of the mighty food pyramid? Don't you need both?

I'll try again. I offer up the onion, as in onion rings. I know the breading and frying part isn't so great but the onion itself? Beyond reproach........right?

Now for some wine to strengthen my heart :D

This sounds like the Frank Zappa School of Nutrition. Didn't he count tobacco as a vegetable? :P

A potato is a tuber but still counts as a vegetable, so you're safe, Dano. All of these chips are simply salt delivery mechanisms, though. Any starchy edible substance (mashed corn, potato slices) can form the substrate which is fried in oil to stiffen it. The oil also serves to help adhere the salt to the substrate. Et voila, the salt is easily conveyed from bag to mouth. Mmmmm, salt. Now where did I put my beer?

LOL.... Great nutrition!

According to my husband the four food groups are salt, sugar, grease, and caffeine.

I think the fifth should be alcohol.

I think chocolate falls under the "sugar" category. Though maybe it does deserve a group of its own.... there are days when I feel I could exist solely on chocolate and caffeine.... with maybe a little bit of alcohol, too.... LOL!

Well, alcohol kind of falls into the sugar group. As my wife says, she doesn't like sweets, she prefers her sugar fermented...

And the sixth (and, arguably, it should be much higher up the list) is Pork Product. Virtually every meal can be enhanced by the presence of something from this classification, starting with breakfast... especially breakfast...
