Hilarious, Grey. What a great find; thanks for sharing.

However, you forgot to mention the rare option of Gibson Custom "metal tulip" tuning keys.

No, it isn't that. It's that I don't care for boogered-up Rickenbackers. What's the point? If you don't like Rickenbackers, don't waste your money buying one, only to try to make it sound like something already equipped with your favorite common garden variety humbucker.

Can't neglect look, feel, and vibe though.

Why would somebody do that? Is there no end to man's butchery & treachery?

I need a lie down...

And that guitar seems to have lost all three with those questionable (at best) mods.

cool, a JG non-slant fret model!

Paul, JH mentioned that not all 481 were slant fret after the RIC Outlet auction of the newfangled 481 one-off, in response to a post that asked how the guitar could be a 481 without having slant frets.

Ah memories. My first rick was a 481 with the slant frets. I hadn't played too many guitars before picking this up and I didn't realise the frets were abnormal until a friend pointed it out to me. I want it back!

IMO, that's more than I would have paid given what was done to it, but it's a fairly good price based on what these have been selling for. They've really shot up and it's going to be awhile before they come back down.

I'm eager to see what you do with it.

:D Thanks Erik! If I can get the 481 pickups from Jason than I can get 481 style pickguard made and I will be halfway there.

Will it require (if you put it back to original specs) a new tailpiece, and doing something about those holes drilled into your guitar to accomodate the replacement one that's on there now?

That will look really cool. That tailpiece will still be an issue, though. Other than filling the holes and refinishing the body, there's not a lot you can do. Perhaps fill the posts and fit it with a Bigsby B5 to cover it up? That'd be rocking.

Infact.....
