Re: Non Ric acoustics
OK, here we go top to bottom:
Wildwood open back banjo. I've been playing this instrument since new back in the early '80s.
SL Mossman Tennessee Flattop. This is my main acoustic axe. Built in Winfield, KS and the serial number dates it to 1976.
Fiddle. Bought 28 years ago from Elderly Instruments, this has been my main fiddle ever since. I still use it on stage with Getty Township
Dobro. The real deal built by the Dopyera brothers back in the 1930s. I inherited it from my grandfather who bought it new. And oh how us grandkids banged around on it!

Alex Bevan plays, or at least, played a SL Mossman for a long time.
Re: Non Ric acoustics
This is my other acoustic. Tuned like a tenor guitar, it's a lot of fun. Beautifully crafted and ornamented, too.
All I wanna do is rock!

Thanks. I use the Dobro on those rare occasions when I play bottle neck. Excuse the rough performance, the song was brand new when this video was made, and therefore not at all well rehearsed.sloop_john_b wrote:Jim, wow, lovely spread.
Recorded at the Kansas City Songwriters' Circle.

Couldn't afford nor justify a Martin D-28 so I got a Takamine G530SS. Does all I need and stays in tune.
Re: Non Ric acoustics
You know how to play one of those things? I don't recall that!johnallg wrote:Couldn't afford nor justify a Martin D-28 so I got a Takamine G530SS. Does all I need and stays in tune.

I am a hack but S L O W L Y improving. Mostly I work out nice sounding chord progressions and never get words for them. Book? You're supposed to read a book before starting out on guitar? Oh oh!

Here's my current go-to acoustic, a 1967 Gretsch Rancher:

Cool guitar. It might be some residual substance from the 60's in my system, but I swear that guitar looks like it's singing......collin wrote:Here's my current go-to acoustic, a 1967 Gretsch Rancher:
