"That's nothing, I spent 6 hrs cleaning my driveway yesterday"

You need a bigger snowblower Jeff.....one of my best investments!

Yesterday my driveway wasn't the problem (about 18" of snow plus drifts). The problem was that the burner on my furnace was packed with snow sucked in through the intake which is only a foot off the ground. It's nice to wake up to a 48 degree house.

"sucked in through the intake which is only a foot off the ground."

I see a replumbing job in the near future - they turned mine up and had them exhaust and draw about 3+ feet in the air.

I would think the snowblower market down under is pretty limited Darren!! They're pretty much must have household appliances in this region.

That being said, this bizarre winter, I have had mine out only twice. Yesterday was the second time. That big storm stayed pretty much all south of us. We got about 6" when everyone south and east got 24+". I usually have 60+" piled up all winter on my front lawn (driveway blowings) but this year I can still see all my dwarf spruce trees (36" high).

Not complaining mind you, but weird. We are living with -30 to -36°C windchill though (50km/h steady winds). brrr! Pass the bucket of hot coffee please.

Definitely an odd winter. I have less than an inch of snow, but it's been bloody cold!
Say goodbye to the woodpile!

This winter in Chicago is the first "normal" winter we have had in about 15 years. An entire generation of Chicagoans have grown up not knowing what it is to sled down a hill. We have about 12 inches where I live - the way it was when I was a kid.

Actually, this pic wasn't taken in Russia. Somewhere else in Europe, i believe.
