Now you have to watch it with Roxanne or else The Police may come after you! Watch the shoreline, there is a message coming your way.
Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
I thought Sting played a later one, but with a new search he really had the same model.
Here is an unfortunately slightly too big picture:

Those Ibanez Musician basses were some of the best models that Ibanez ever made. Congrats and enjoy it, Bert!
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
Thanx all. It is a bit of gamble for me as I never played one, but I want a fretless with an ebony board for some time now and I allways liked the looks of this bass. And it cant be too bad with a maple neck (through) and a proper neck pickup can it? On pictures I have the idea that the neck pickup is more towards the (22 non-fret) neck than on later (24 fret) Musician basses.

Very nice! You'll have to let us know how it sounds!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
So far my 4001 FL is brighter with more bottom and is more easy to play. I have not tweaked the truss rods of the IBA yet, but the 4001 FL is not in the best shape either.cjj wrote:Very nice! You'll have to let us know how it sounds!
[edit] And I did put new strings on the IBA. The same kind as are on the 4001 FL.

Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
The Fishman full circle in the DB is a keeper. I also had another setback at the QCDB gig: my ancient Polytone Mark III 1X15 started humming near the end of the last set. By flipping the on-off switch back and forth I was able to keep it down and not miss to many notes and get through the gig. But I have to get a replacement. It's probably filter caps, but I don't have the time to troubleshoot it, and it's had the main board resoldered once about 15 to 20. It will still be a good beginner's or bedroom/practice amp, but it's done gigging. I have a new Carvin MB12 on order. With a sealed cabinet, 3-way speaker design and flexible EQ, it looks like it just might be an amp for all seasons: both electric basses (including the 4002), the upright, and even possibly acoustic guitar or even the 360-12WB FG ckbd. It gets here in about a week, and reviews will follow.
Stay tuned for entries into the "for sale" section for some goodies that will have to go to make room for them.

I'm actually getting a freebie fretless bass from my friend who dosn't play anymore. He's in the military now, so I should be getting it in august. The neck needs to be ajusted (strings are way to high) Its all black with a white guard its a no name bass (he says its a redone ibanez) I don't really care, its something to play. Ill probably paint the guard black and have pretty much a "blackstar" non rick. Its shape is a traditional Jazz bass style. I'm pretty exicted.
Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
Was this originally a fretless, or were the frets pulled out of the bass without properly filling in the slots?IvanMunoz wrote:.....a freebie fretless bass from my friend.....The neck needs to be ajusted (strings are way to high).....(he says its a redone ibanez).
Re: Non-Rickenbacker Fretless Basses Sub-Forum
He said he sent it to the factory to be de-fretted, I guess the slots were filled because the neck is panted over. What I meant by ajust the neck, is that the action is WAY high.jps wrote:Was this originally a fretless, or were the frets pulled out of the bass without properly filling in the slots?IvanMunoz wrote:.....a freebie fretless bass from my friend.....The neck needs to be ajusted (strings are way to high).....(he says its a redone ibanez).

It is hard to tell from this photo but Percy's action is WAY high on his bass but he seems make it work okay. I tried playing his bass but it would have broken my fingers doing so.
