Combo 600 on e-Bay

Post by sir_andrew_of_left_coast »

Was anyone in here the winning bidder on the recent e-Bay auction for this Combo 600? The poor thing looks as though it's been through a lot... (sniff)

Andrew: Yes it has certainly been around. In the end it was sold for $999.00 US.Image
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

It does look like a sad little plank, but I've got a soft spot in my heart for the styling and what I've HEARD about the p'ups on the Combo 600s and 800s----Rick Turner and Ry Cooder have opined favorably on them and Turner's Model T used a p'up modeled on/after the old horse-shoe style Ric p'up (BTW, what IS up w/ the bridge p'up on the poor girl above?). How do these things play, and has anyone seen (or priced ) one in better, and ORIGINAL, shape?

That neck pickup looks like a DeArmond, like from an old Harmony guitar... and the bridge pickup looks familar, too, but I can't place it.
