Don't mean to get persnickety here, Kira, but I believe the phrase is "How'm I doon".

Trying to be sensitive to our wonderfully diverse culture, for many of the teachers in my daughter's school, English is not their first language. Many with thick accents, I strain to understand them. How can they teach phonetics? My daughter is picking up traces of their accents!

Har!

1. The seller's name is dumpstermann

2. Here's the copy:

"up for auciton is a 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 Fretless Bass it is in good working condition. The bass has been altered a bit the pick up's are not original but they sound great the neck pickup is a seymour dunkin and the bridge pick up is a axl. bridge is in great condition but not original. The neck on this bass is strate. the tuners are not original. This is a wonder full working bass. If you want a great vintage peace of history then this bass is for you.

Ahem. 'Nuff said here, and I didn't have to say it, either!

Three pics from the "auciton", showing the craftsmanship and attention to detail favored by dumpstermann:

!BUFuN!gBGk~$(KGrHgoH-DMEjlLlvjJvBKLvSq(lPQ~~_1.JPG
Best of all, the BIN price is a measly $1315.00. That's about $1100.00 too high.

Maybe this is punishment for all the sins I committed with power tools when I was young and dumb.

No - older, wiser, sadder, maybe, certainly better looking ( ) but not young, and still not smart enough to stay out of trouble. But at least all my guitars are in perfect shape and will stay that way.

That's just loverly Howard. Nice colour and all those nice Gibbie appointments really make it look professional. That top horn looks really nice too. Reminds me of a plastic guitar that got too close to the fire a few times and now it is largely distorted. Oh and the price............well that just tops it off, doesn't it?

From the ad copy, indicating that it's not a real Rick: "...think of it as Epiphone [is] to Gibson".

More accurate: "Think of it as **** [is] to platinum".

Most of it is sadly disproportionate and lacking in anything but the grossest visual clues.

Reminds me of when Mattel switched from having the prototype tooling Hot Wheels done in SoCal (by modelmakers who charged $3K per prototype and who really knew their American cars), to having them done in China, because the contract die casting factories had an on-site staff of young (as young as 15!) modelmakers who worked for as little as $3 per day, and were offering this vital service gratis if Mattel would place their manufacturing orders with them.

The result benefited Mattel--they saved a bit more than $3K per Hot Wheel project. But the models that came out of China resembled the distortions of a troubled child...these guys had never seen a '55 Chevy, much less tried to model one in 1/64th actual size...

This would have been the 2002 Hot Wheels line, tooled in '01. 240 new releases, out of which perhaps a dozen were done in China...

This one's up for sale. It's today's Let's waste Peter's Bandwidth Special!

Starting bid US$79.99...

It presents a good case for "don't quit yer day job" for whoever lovingly built it out of a single slab of purple heart (which is pricey wood, not to mention heavy...note the afterthought gold extension rod screwed to the back to counter the supremely neck-heavy stance of this beauty. And all for one passive pickup and 23 (count 'em--23!!! frets...

Note (pun intended) the logo and brand name.
