Rectifying The Fender

Post by admin »

Charlie: Not knowing the Fender history too well, was it in the early 1970s that the tube rectifier was replaced by the solid state component? In what way did this result in a different tonality?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

They replace the tube rectifiers in different models at different years in the 1970s. The Super Reverb had a tube rectifier until the late 1970s for example. It depends on the model. The Bassman Piggy Back head replaced the tube rectifier with silicon in the late 1960s, I believe.
