Jimmy Buffett

Post by brian_l »

I just went to see a Jimmy Buffett cover band last night and it dawned on me that I have seen Buffett at one time or another playing a fireglo 360. Does anyone have any more information about or pictures of the Rickenbackers that Buffett played?

I've seen pictures of him playing a vintage 360/12 FG.

Buffett **shudders** ...I have seen a J.B. cassette in my parents' collection with him playing a solidbody Ric on the cover. So that has him with a 360/12 and a 200-series(?)?

I checked out the discography section of the Buffet website and the only album that he is pictured playing a Rickenbacker on the cover is "Feeding Frenzy." The guitar he is playing on the cover isn't a solidbody, but a vintage fireglo 360/12.

Love him or not.....the guy has quite a following. He sells out concerts in record time. I'm not a "parrot head" by any means but his fans are like an army.

He's holding one on that cassette. Next time I'm there, I'll fish around for it. Image

Yes Rob, I'm afraid there is a country mile between 'This Night Has Opened My Eyes' and 'Cheeseburger In Paradise'. Image

I played congas in a Jimmy Buffett tribute band in 97. I detest JB and all of his music, but I was making $200+ per show 2+ nights a week. Easy money, lotsa hunnies and I ate well. besides playing drums in a country band, it was the most lucrative musical employment I ever had.

Sean...I hear ya, buddy...sometimes, it's about the Cheeseburgers, Paradise or no...

As I've related before, the best steady money I ever made as a musician was in the matching-denim-leisure-suit trio playing **** like "Feelings"...

Want to hear something sad? I know a pro musician who has regular gigs in local bars and also plays private parties, etc. He plays some Jimmy Buffett covers in his set, but everything he plays sounds like Jimmy Buffett doing covers. It's really sad...
