I am writing a short piece about Jim Gretty and am looking for a couple of period photos of him. I have only seen one from the 1960s. Should you have one on hand, I would love to be able to use it.

A country and western singer in Liverpool who, among other things, sold John Lennon his first guitar.

Thanks, Peter. This place is not only fun but educational! C&W in Liverpool - sounds odd.....

Hi,

For a little information on Jim Gretty, see my posts in the "Hessy's Music Store Again" thread.

Best wishes,

JimN

PS: Country and Western was massive in Liverpool throughout the period of the Mersey Beat Boom and more or less ever since, though many of its older practitioners, including my old band-leader Paddy Kelly, are no longer with us. It was certainly possible to earn a living in a C&W band, and when I was in my late teens and early twenties, I did just that.
