Guitar Cables and Tone

Post by ricrocks »

There was an interesting discussion regarding *Evidence* guitar cables awhile back on VT. These puppies cost upwards of $50 depending on the length! Im thinking of ordering one, so I would be interested to hear your opinions in advance. Do high end cables really enhance your tone enough to justify that kind of price?

David....It depends on how you are going to use the cable. Read this to help you make your own decision. http://www.procosound.com/downloads/guides/htc_guitar.pdf

For they kind of playing I do these days, I could just use fence wire and it wouldn't matter.
As an aside, being an electronic type, if I needed a high quality cable, I would go to a decent electronic store, not Radio Shack, and buy some cable as described in the .pdf. Excellent quality plugs are made by Amphenol and won't corrode unless you leave them out in the rain and even then it would take awhile. Put the plugs on the cable yourself, start picking and take yourself out to dinner later with the $$$$ you saved.
