Stephen Wilson said: "If you hang them on your wall, or put them on nice stands, you can get the best of both the collecting and playing worlds. I have all my guitars hanging up as wall decorations whenever I'm not playing them (not in direct sunlight, naturally.) They're just as nice to look at as they are to play, IMHO."

That's what I'm talking about! Image

I am always torn between the mint vintage pieces and the really played ones. Often, the ones that recieved a lot of use over several decades are those "one in a thousand" guitars that are extraordinary - or they had a series of owners who were slobs! The mint ones often were played for a while, proved disappointing, and stuck under the bed. There are scads of Harmony guitars in great shape because they were set up so poorly and had such bad actions that the owners (usually beginners) hurt their fingers, got frustrated and stuck them in the closet. The best playing and sounding guitar that I own is a '59 Fender Jazzmaster that has been played to death and just gets better and better. I had a mint '67 Epi Casino that just didn't deliver - pretty though. The other side of the coin is that i just got a '67 Rick 360/12 that looks like it never left its pristine siver case and it plays great and sounds like GOD! So...go figure.
