Neck on 330

Post by beatlenut »

I got my first Rickenbacker last week, a 2002 330 model. I really like it so far. I had never played a Ric before, but had read many reviews. One thing that surprised me was the "beefy" neck. I thought I had read complaints of a thin neck. The neck is almost like a baseball bat to me. I was expecting it to be thin or thinner than a strat. Is this the norm on all Ric models or is the 330 neck bigger? The reviews I read did say they were thin on the 330 though.

The current 330, 360 and 620 series are narrow in width but are pretty beefy front to back. My general impression is that the older ones (before the truss rod redesign circa 1981) aren't as thick front to back.

The 650 and 660 series are wider across. Too wide for me.
