I've lost track at around 36 total, about 24 of which are Rickenbackers of various flavors.

Oldest RIC: 1966 Ryder 1000 FG; newest RIC: 2000 730L MG.

I still have the second guitar I ever bought, a 1967 Gibson ES335TDC that I bought from the original owner (through a consignment music store) with paper-route money in 1969.

It is more than a little sadness I announce the passing of my 1965 Framus 12 string acoustic( I had owned it since 1974). The price of restoring was out of kilter with the price of new 12 string

I am now down to 3 rics .......

What's with Framus? Somebody give a bit of background, please? I had an accoustic, red with silver sparkles. Looked like stainless steel hardware. Looked very Elvis-y, '50's. My then wife, a german, when I bought it at a swap meet said "Why buy that? We laugh at those in Germany, being low tier guitars?". It has since been stolen from my home (they left my 4005, whew!)

And a nice Epiphone Dot in natural finish.

The list of guitars that I've had then sold/traded/etc. is longer I think...

Shamustwin Jerry Juden ' asked about Framus"

Framus were originally violin makers in Bavaria who went on to make guitars. They went belly up in the late 60's early70"s. The son of the old owner now makes Warwick guitars as I understand it. Apparently they are good!!! I played one at the Frankston Guitar Show but didnt like the feel . Bill Wyman used to play a framusbass inthe early days of the Stones. I liked the very narrow neck but the violin style bridge was the pits. It got dropped and the glued in neck separated and it was never the same again. The 12 string I bought had a nice tone but it had had been butchered where the neck bolted on and had had several sets of machine heads judging by the holes on the head stock. To get it fixed was going to be almost rebuild. None the less it was a very useful tool for the 20 odd years I owned it. Maybe I should have had a cosmetic job done on it and hung it on the wall..still I got $120 for it..
