Ron it was a total fluke that I saw it.

A strange turn of events for sure.

Great pics, Dave!
Looks like a fantastic trip, & thanks for sharing it with us all.
I was wondering where you had gotten off to (I don't check in on this section very often).

I think one of my favorite afternoon and nights was the time we spent in downtown Melbourne. There was much to see and do.

We toured the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix race track near the middle of the city. It was not race time, so the course was in uses for regular traffic. It must be a great event to see, with the urban setting and the F1 cars whizzing about. I hear however the track in Sydney is a bit nicer (KIDDING).

The area I spent the most time in was on the river front that divided the city. I noticed a great deal of public art which was on display everywhere. For a large City it was extremely clean and I always felt safe (except for when “you know” was having one of his “episodes”).

The City at night came alive. The skyline really had a lot of high end custom lighting. It even had a pyrotechnics show ever hour, where 10 (I think), 30 foot high monoliths spewed massive flames into the air.

I could have could have spent my entire time in the City area. There was so much that we did not see; such as Museums, Australian football, the tennis matches and horse racing. All reasons to come back.

Frank, congratulations on your new bass. Hopefully we can all get together soon.

Dave, we never have enough time to get everywhere we want to go. I felt the same when we visited NYC and Boston last year. You'll just have to come back again !!!

Yes Frank congrats on the new bass. I started a thread of pics of me unpacking my trans red 4004Cii/5 a couple of years ago.

This has certainly been a fun thread Dave, thanks.

Well that pretty much concludes some of the highlights. The posts here were the tip of the iceberg of the great time that we had.

One more thanks to Joey and Diane for dinning with us on the way.

I hope that I paid proper homage to my Aussie friends during this thread.

If you are thinking of going…………DO IT

Thanks to all for a trip of a lifetime. Thanks to Darren and Robyn Trott for being the perfect host x 1000.

Due to logistical problems, my trip has been put off until late November. Image

I'll be in and around Melbourne through to mid December 2007. In the meantime my wife and I will be going off to St. Lucia for a bit of R&R.

Assuming none of you will be travelling yourselves (sorry but I hope you're not), I'll get to see all you blokes in Oz in December.

Bugger, that's bad news Brian. Image We were already looking forward to more fun next month.

Not to worry - we'll all still be keen in December anyway. I look forward to meeting you then Image
