I've brought a full-size acoustic as a carry-on before, Jeff. It was in an acoustic gig bag rather than a HSC, not sure if this matters or not.

I think as long as it IS in a soft case it can be a carry on.

I thought so too. Then I took my 331 on in an acoustic bag and they made me check it anyway, under much protest. Good thing it didn't break.

Jeffrey, I may ship my 730S out to one of the SoCal forumites. I've also given thought to one of these clam shell cases.

Wow, sounds like MARF might beat SoCalCon in # of guitars present.

Wow Kenny, you actually had to check your Lightshow?

A few times when i've brought guitars on, a crew member has offered to stow it in the first class closets for me. I prefer that to even putting it in the overhead compartments.

Not if I can help it! I guess I'll need to bring most of my collection instead of less than half ...

I'll have mine there too, so phooey on y'all.

Yeah, I was completely nervous, and won't fly that airline anymore.

Would that be a certain carrier based at Atlanta?

We should establish some sort of index of carry-on friendly airlines and the 'forced checking' airlines... I know it is largely the discretion of each crew, but there is probably a pattern for most airlines.

It's more closely related to the airlines facilities and policies at a given airport, as well as the aircraft type being boarded.

The same airline that will barely let you take aboard a briefcase at Washington Reagan National airport will allow you to carry on something closer to a 42" plasma TV going out of Narita!
