SoCalCon III Jam???

Post by jdogric12 »

Any word on this? I would be not only willing but happy to organize, or help organize something along these lines. Kenny (deservedly) will not be doing this again this year, people, it's his year off! I've sent some emails but heard nothing, so perhaps we can agree on something here?

I just started working on the blues tunes I have been talking about. I put up a thread in recording. My thing is to write and record a couple of blues tunes that we can do. I will let others plan the whole "jam" thing.

Darren, you are the "utility infielder" because you can play drums, guitar, bass, ... Image

Jdog, I owe you an e-mail.

Gary, I've never been called a utility infielder before. Thanks, I think! Image

I'm sure Gary meant it as a compliment, but utility infielders are average or a bit above average at a lot of things but not exceptional at any one thing. In baseball (you know, that American sport at which Howard hangs out), utility infielders are some of the lowest paid players. Darren's worth more than a utility infielder don't ya think?

Well I don't play baseball...I play bass and that's it.
I guess that leaves me out of that catagory! Image

utility adj (1531) 1 : capable of serving as a substitute in various roles or positions [a ~ infielder] 2 a : kept to provide a useful product or service rather than for show or as a pet [~ livestock] [~ dog] b : being of a usable but inferior grade [~ beef] ...

Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th Edition
Note that the 'inferior' denotation of 2b is distinct from the denotation of 1 which was what I was referring to. I don't listen to or watch a lot of baseball nowadays, but in the past, the term utility infielder carried no negative aspects to it. (In other words, Darren, it was meant as a compliment! Image)

I won't be bringing instruments, but will be honored to sit in on bass for a while. I'm best at classic rock standards, Beatles in particular. Call me in for relief.

Suits me, Gary......... bewdy!! Image

I could manage rhythm guitar on a number of Beatles songs, so count me in as relief also. Undecided about lugging a guitar all the way from Oz, though!

Would your SH be available if I promise to take my belt off and and wear cotton gloves, Gary?? Image

I too, am undecided about bringing an instrument. I want to bring the 730/12L but I only want to do carry on.
