Wis Con

Post by bassduke49 »

We just concluded the first "Wisconsin (Micro)Confluence" held at my place in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Five were in attendance: Dan Schleier (a local non-Forum type), Bob Salter from Lake Geneva, Ted Williams from Middleton, Bill Henshell from Chicago, and myself. We had a total of 22 instruments (two non-Ricks) if you don't count my wall-mounted Hofners. I had half with my ten basses and 660/12. We had a great time over beer/soda and pizza, while the Packers and Brewers fought it out on TV (Pack won, BrewCrew lost). Here are photos:

From left, Ted Williams with his 370 WB, Bob Salter with his '77 4001FG, Dan Schleier with his 360/12CW (for sale, BTW), and Bill Henshell with his 370S Shiloh. My bass fleet in the background.

Bill tries out Bob's 4003MID.

Bob plunks away on my 2000 4003 SG with his '77 4001FG looking on.

Bob tries out the low B on my '97 Laredo.

Dan compares Ted W.'s 370WB with his 360CW.

Ted W. tries out Bill's ultra-rare RCA 12-string. Apparently, this special-order Rick served as the prototype for the the 381 Laguna.

Ted W. strums my 660/12 MB. That's for sale, too. Keep an eye out on the "For Sale" column.

Great time. Thanks all for coming. There's talk about a Chicago Confluence, and hopefully the guys from Big Windy will pull something together.

Fantastic time Paul. Thanks for hosting. Some great basses there and I got a chance to hear the vintage tone switch in action for the first time.

I had a great time, and I greatly enjoyed meeting Paul, Bill, Dan and Ted. I feel very lucky to have been included, and to have been able to finally meet great people and play such a variety of excellent and rare instruments. It was a wonderful opportunity! Thank you to all, and thank you to Paul for having it. I look forward to next time!

Maybe it did. They won huge last night. Now, if they can win out the stretch, and the Cubs lose four . . . .
