RG 30 .....

Just got an RG 30 from a guy on my local Craigslist. It`s in very good cosmetic shape....no rips in the cloth or tolex. A couple of the knobs have the yellow filler missing but that`s about it.

Sounds good but has a bit of hum and a bit more w/ the reverb on. Any suggestions on dealing w/ the hum ?

Got it for $50. I couldn`t pass it up.

Mike: How about sending in the serial or better yet register it and upload the photos.

Yep, replace ALL the electrolytic filter caps. I did the ones in my RG30, and totally eliminated the hum.
There are only 5 or 6 as I recall, and only cost $10-12 total. Also replace the Si heatsink grease on the TO3 outputs. After 30 years mine was drying out. Cheapest insurance you'll ever buy. Oh, I'm the other registered RG30 on the list.

Mike, Did you ever get the hum fixed on your RG30 ? Thanx for posting the pix, it sure looks nice sitting behind your other Rick.
If you ever get a handle on a schematic for it, pls let me know. I'll do the same.

I've brought back this thread because I just bought an RG 30 on ebay. It looks like it's in very good condition:

Does anyone know when these amps were manufactured? Thanks!

I found this RG-7 on Ebay.
Stripped and clean it up. Loving it 8)
Found a 'Mary' signature in the circuit housing ... I guess this amp was assembled and checked by Mary.
Great condition for an old SS amp.
Can anyone provide more info on this? Year made, collectibility...etc.
