Linda: So sorry this one got missed. I will leave it for Roy as he knows the group members' history best.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

All of the original members of the group McNally, Jackson, Pender, Curtis certainly did.

John McNally worked in a factory at one time, Pender did a stint as a tile floor layer, though he showed promise as a footballer(soccer) and had a trial with Everton.

Jackson was a electrician and Curtis did a office job and in fact return to office work after he had left The Searchers, Frank Allen himself worked as a clerk at one time.

But it must be said that their stints in the real world with exception of Curtis and Jackson to some degree, who both had various jobs after quitting music business, was brief.

Forgot to mention the new boys Spencer James, though now a Searchers for 22 years and Eddie Rothe as I was not certain of their backgrounds.

However after clarification Spencer worked in retail and also worked for a short while for Marshall's who make amps as most here will know.

Ed was a storeman and even did a stint as a milkman. After the success he had with Liquid Gold was over he played for the group Mud for a while before settling back into working in a facory again.

Then the call came for him to join The Searchers.
