What colour is your favourite plectrum?

Post by leftyguitars »

The thread title here was taken from an actual serious thread title that I once saw on another forum.

This thread is for any posting of a humorous nature with a UK bias or interest that doesn't fit anywhere else.

There use to be certain store in LA that kept a fishbowl of quality picks next to the door. One side of the picks had the store's name and phone number. The other side said, STOLEN FROM.

I use Dunlop ones that are either blue or purple, I don't know - I'm colorblind. :(

So John, does that mean that you can't tell the difference between 'playing the blues' and 'playing the purples'? :?

Some years back, I bought a MIM fretless Jazz from Musician's Friend. I went with the color I liked best on their site, called - funnily enough - Midnight Blue.

When it came, I naturally showed off my shiny new bass to my friends, who all asked, "Why on earth did you buy a purple bass???" It was a looooooooong time before I heard the end of that one. :(

The bass is now Sonic Blue, which is one of the few colors I don't mix up with another.

I use yellow Tortex picks; they have the perfect thickness, flexibility, and logevity for me, and they are easily visible on a darkened stage. I've been using these picks for over twenty years.

That being said, I'm looking into having some custom screened guitar picks of the same variety with one of the band logos on them. :D

My favourite picks are the hard crusty ones that have a nice gooey end, just like 'er majesty.
