The Cub Hitty Band
Re: The Cub Hitty Band
Canadian, you can tell by the accent! Dean Steliga, perhaps?
Re: The Cub Hitty Band
No Jeff, not Dean.

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
Well since Jim got two influences right (Neil young and Gordon Lightfoot?), and Jeff thinks the artist is Canadian (although he's wrong - we don't have accents), I'm going to say its Greg Howley (his previous "guess" was a red herring). Greg's other influences are obviously The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Tommy Hunter, Mr. Dressup and The Clash. The song is about Matt Sundin's return to Toronto tonight. Of course I could be wrong....
..... but really, it is a lovely song!

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
other influences: Jim Croce, Phil Ochs, John Lennon?
I haven't found any clues in the members' recordings section but maybe someone will check me on that.

Steve: Not Greg Howley.
Kira: One point thus far for correct influence.

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
Peter, I have a suggestion for the "rules of the game."
When someone (such as Jim and Kira) gets an influence correct, I think it would be helpful and fair for the correct influence to be identified and then taken "off the table" so that others would not benefit (get points) from repeating influences previously correctly surmised.
Right now we don't know which of the influences named are the correct ones, so we are not benefiting from the correct observations of our fellow players of this game, and neither are they.
What do you think?

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
I'm guessing that Phil Ochs was the winner in my case?

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
Cub Hitty Band has to be one of those word scramble puzzles. I've been playing with it, and some of the answers I've come up with are pretty hilarious, or just plain nonsensical. Of course, that could be the point. Who can tell nowadays?
Kira: I think your guess of Jim Croce was the correct influence answer.

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
Ron: Your point is well taken.
Correct answers so far:
Jim Krause: Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot
Mira Moon: John Lennon
Ron O'Keefe: George Harrison
Hint: Jim is correct. There is meaning in the band name.

Do we have a member named Bear Whacker?

Re: The Cub Hitty Band
I'm pretty sure it's Nick Cormier (tennis_nick) because he is just a cub, he likes to hit fuzzy green things, is a big Beatles fan, and a nifty guitar player.
And Canadian.
Also, suspiciously absent from this thread.

No Greg. Columbo would be proud but no points yet. No confirmation with regard to nationality has been made to this point.
