Two Amazing soloists -wondered what the experts thought

Post by longhouse »

These two solos showcase how a lead instrument can elevate a song's mood and impact, giving counterpoint to the vocal melody and adding more dimension to the chord changes. Both players are self-taught. Dave's P90-loaded Paul has a singing tone while Max's Gretsch (dig that finish) has a bright, jazzy tone.

The criminally unsung Dave Davies on a little known Kinks cut live on Old Grey Whistle Test:

I'm no expert but I really like the first one. It has a wonderful, relaxed feel and groove about it. And the solo playing is perfect for the song!!

The Kinks one has been disabled so I can't comment.

Thanks for posting, Noel. :D
