Hi all,

The holidays are here! Everyone is/will be busy all December, so I wanted to post this event so everyone could mark their calendars ahead of time. The So Cal Winter NAMM show takes place Thursday January 14 thru Sunday Jan 17th. Along with many of you, Graham Griffiths will be making his annual trek to So Cal, mnost likely staying at my place. Since everyone's too busy NAMM weekend for a Rickenjam, and Graham sticks around for another week or so afterwards, I would like to invite you all to the second annual "Post NAMM Graham Jam" on Saturday, January 23rd, 12-8pm, once again at Backline Rehearsal Studios in Garden Grove. Graham has requested that we jam on some 1950s rock n' roll, so in addition to our typical Byrds/Beatles fare, along with the more recent power pop and post-punk insurgencies, not to mention the KISS and Zep numbers, dig around for some Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Duane Eddy, Buddy Holly, and Gene Vincent charts!

Bassists are highly requested to aid the talents of the marathon bassist Joey Vasco, as well as Scott Jehlik, who were our sole bassists this past jam, save for the hack playing on my part. We've had more drummers than bassists at the last few jams...probably double the number of drummers, not that I'm complaining about the drum talent; Alberto, Greg, and Paul had a blast at the last jam!

Who's in?!

Paul, If you could help me find someone who could straighten out a '73 4001 that has never had the truss rods adjusted, and if the bass turned out as fantastically playable as the one I played at the 11/7 jam, I'd definitely be able to provide relief for any bass player who needed a break at the next jam. Otherwise, I'd have to bring my non-Rick bass or be in 'borrow' mode again.

I plan to be there.

Tom

Tom, I think I could manage to bring one that you could use for the jam ...

Jeff, depending on your schedule, we probably could have a Mini-Con at my house ...but you might be forced to play the 4002. And then remember that it's all original.

Tom, I'm a little behind on answering emails (actually alot behind). I'll be happy to adjust your 4001 neck.

Gary,
Thanks for the offer. Lots to choose from..... I was kinda hoping/hinting that some local Rick bass setup expert might be able to help me out and get me playing my 4001 again. That black Rick bass I played at the last jam had better action than any bass I have ever played. I'm a bit leery of having just any guitar tech pop the fingerboard/split the neck on me.

Catchy name, Namm Graham Jam!

I will most likely attend, since you're gonna jam on some real rock and roll (Elvis, Buddy, etc!)
