Those are Baldwins. Burns of London's American line.

My first "real" bass was a Baldwin Jazz bass...with Wild Dog tone setting!

Flashback...1975, Queens N.Y. Mr. Aldini at the Queensborough Institute of Music used to tell us youngsters,

Baldwins are as good as gold!!! :D

Hey Len, Yes, I've been keeping an eye out on (you can say it) Ebay.

I'd like to get a nice Baldwin Jazz bass one of these days...to replace the one I

had in the '70s. There was a nice one a few weeks back with an in-line Fender style

headstock...rarer than the scroll. I prefer those to the scroll headstocks. I also wouldn't

mind having a nice Baby Bison bass. I think those are nasty looking!!!

What d'ya know...a Ommpa-Loompa bass just came up for sale!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

The seller is delusional...starting bid at $3,500!!! I've never seen a Baldwin bass sell for over $800...well maybe a nice Bison would fetch in the $1,500.00+ range. This one is an un-common one, so maybe $1,000.00

From the sellers item description...

"You will not find another bass just like this one! I know I can't! I have seen guitars similar selling for up to $30,000, but i believe somewhere around $5000 would be fair. I really need to get a new car, so I have to sell it, just contact me with an offer!"

He says that he can't find another one (on the net I presume)...how does he come up with $30,000.00!!! He's seen similar guitars? Maybe what he saw was a vintage Gibson 335? I think he has to come up with a plan B for that new car.

THIS is killer....I saw this band live, and the drummer played the trumpet while drumming, as SEEN in this video.....later, my band recorded at the lead singer's studio....a nice, nice guy named Gary Liozzo....we drove up to a south suburb of Chicago, into the driveway of a residential split level, the garage door opened and there was an 8-track studio in full dress......Gary is a great talent....composer, engineer and producer...... 8)
