Re: DADGAD
Very nice! I play in DADGAD all the time... It is my favorite tuning...
Garnet Rogers has a song called a ROW OF SMALL TREES that has my favorite DADGAD chord progression right up the neck to the 12th fret.. It is an awesome song...

Re: DADGAD
I like using a Shubb partial capo.... It only covers three strings at a time, and when placed over the A, D, and G strings at the second fret, it simulates the effect of DADGAD tuning, but up a full step....it's very convenient, since I don't have to spend any time retuning. I've written a few songs with this tuning, but I have no idea what the actual chord names are.... that's a puzzle for the music theory people to figure out. I just finger the chords I know and enjoy the very different way they sound in the alternative tuning.

That was very cool..............

Re: DADGAD
It was Garnet Rogers brother Stan that got me interested in DADGAD, and I've kept a Guild 12 string in that tuning for years. It's not for everything, but it has a very wonderful, distinct sound, especially on a 12 string.

Re: DADGAD
Stan learned the DADGAD tuning from Archie Fisher when he covered the song DARK EYED MOLLIE in 1977. He always kept his Laskin 12 string in that tuning. WITCH OF THE WESTMERLAND, LOCK-KEEPER, and HARRIS AND THE MARE are a few others0018g wrote:It was Garnet Rogers brother Stan that got me interested in DADGAD, and I've kept a Guild 12 string in that tuning for years. Garnet has used it more frequently though...
