4001 treble pickup problem

Post by grahambo! »

The plastic base on my '76 4001's treble pickup was shot. I bought a new one from a forum member, and when I went to remove the original plastic base, the wiring connecting to the pickup itself came off. Now I'm stuck with a potentially screwed-up pickup (it was already super beat-up cosmetically), and no clue how to put it back together. I tried soldering the wire (red, I think) back into the center hole under the pickup, but it just won't hold, nor am I certain that is the real solution.

Any help? Or should I just go buy a new pickup and sell this one for scrap?

Paging Sergio. Sergio can fix it for you, rewind it if needed, for a whole lot less than new. He's rewound several pickups for me and is well regarded on this board. His user name is rickcrazy , shoot him a PM and he'll give you your options or may tell you how to fix it from your pictures.
