Joey V, Rich F, and I will be celebrating with a double set of live music at a block party down at the beach, along with a couple of other mutual friends. We will be Rickpresenting with at least two Ricks each. Might have some video up after.
If you saw these posts on the other 4th of July thread, you had an inkling that it was about the Return of The Glendoras -- to the second annual Glendora Ave 4th of July Block Party, in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach, right up from the ocean. After rehearsing a few times to learn some additional material, The Glendoras (consisting of Paulie, Joey, Rich and Glendora residents Robert (on lead vocals) and Alberto (on drums) were ready to rock and roll with two + sets of some 80s favorites from The Plimsouls, The Cars, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc.rickenbrother wrote:
Happy Independence Day, everyone!
Paulie, are you ready to rock tomorrow?!
Highlights included our Rickified rendition of Ozzy's "Crazy Train", the Kiss anthemn "Strutter" and Robert's electrifying vocal performance on the 4th of July classic "Born on the Bayou" which had the party-ers dancing in the street.
One of the Block Party attendees, who was feeling no pain, was a big Kiss fan and wanted to sing along.... Finally on an encore performance of Strutter, Paulie let the Kiss-fan share the microphone and my daughter reported that after his singing debut, the Kiss-fan promptly passed out in a chair and never made it to the encore of Born on the Bayou.
In the evening we walked down to the beach to see the great fireworks display at the Queen Mary as well as the fireworks that several Block Party attendees brought along, to liven things up !
Hope everyone had a good Holiday, too !
Pics to follow of The Glendoras Rickified performance ....
