Rick-12 String found in DUMPSTER!!

There were no Rick-12s before 1963, and the "Oven" knobs were gone by '64, AND the single cutaway "F" model is rare alone....if this is true, and not a re-make, he probably saved around $25,000 (Or more) dumpster diving. :-)

D'oh!!

Billy -- the guy playing the guitar in the video -- is a member of the RRF. Perhaps he will fill us in on the story behind this unique guitar.

It looks to me like it could be an early 1960s-style 360F that was re-necked into a 12-string.

I recall reading somewhere on the net that Dale made that guitar and the dumpster diving story is just a ruse.

That's your story Billy......... a dumpster in Santa Anna? Care to enlighten us who really made it? Was it William Young then? Or .............maybe instead of us guessing for a while, why don't you just tell us who made it for you.

This guitar is all over the net so it's not like it needs to be kept a secret or anything.

This guitar was restored, not made. It was found in a dumpster a llloooonnnggg time ago. The neck is not original. The original neck had the headstock broken off. That's the story. And I don't care who believes it, or who doesn't. :D

Pictures of the restoration, please, Billy!

That and the identity of the restorer would kill the controversy. Period.

There are no pictures, sorry he was kinda old school. His name is Tom Love and unfortunately he passed away last weekend. I went to his funeral yesterday.
He was a friend of mine and not a luthier per se. More of an old world wood worker and craftsman.

I find it hard to believe someone would junk any guitar, if I wanted to get rid of an instrument my first stop would be a pawn shop irregardless of what shape it was in.

But, it dosen't really matter. It looks sharp and sounds sweet.

I can't see much in that video. I'd like to see close-up pics of it as it is now. Billy, can you treat us to a set?

Yeah, we know all about this one.

Like they say, some things are just too good to be true, sorta like those "work at home" schemes.
