Wow..what a shame to lose such a beautiful voice. She also had a great sense of humor.

IIRC, she appeared on Saturday Night Live a number of times back in the day, and once did a great duet with Linda Ronstadt on the show ("It's In His Kiss" if memory serves me right). R.I.P.

Both the Guardian and the BBC failed elementary math...or they're too wedding-struck to use their branes. They both said she was born in 1950 (she was) and that she passed at 58.

Howard Stern's take (he was pretty close with her) was that she died of a broken heart. Her daughter, allegedly was a victim of medical malpractice at birth(born with sever brain damage), managed to survive into adulthood. Pheobe sacrificed everything to be with her. The bond was inseparable. Her daughter died in 2007.
