Hey Paul, you should know better than that. Everybody knows that the guitar will sound much better if you use a blue balloon in the sound hole.
Of course, if you really want to play it safe, you can use a Trojan for this purpose, but that will only work if there's certain stiffness in the wood.

I'll be the first one to admit that the pink ones are a bit, er, evocative.
