TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...

Re: TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...
The guitars will tour and then be donated... Correct? I'm not as far as offended, but I do think it is in questionable taste. It sounds like the company has good intentions... But the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Seems like it would be much better to make some exact Clapton replicas, of Blackie and Brownie, then auction them after he tours with him. Same amount of wood, but a lot more money for first responders.
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

I'm sure Fender did this with honourble intentions. That the end result is kitschy rubbish is a matter of taste.

Yeah I saw that. There's a huge gap between one man's slightly quirky patriotism, and a super-corporation's cynical attempt at exploiting a tragedy by bandwagon-jumping. "Hijack" would be a good keyword in this case.
Re: TOO CYNICAL FOR WORDS...
I think Thomas (egosheep) hit the nail on the head. If they got Clapton to play them and autograph them, that's enough, without venturing into the arena of poor taste. Even if they wanted to special label them as tributes, there are ways that it could be done that have a lot more class.

YUCK!
Good cause, but such tasteless, inelegant and amateurish design! It's practically a mockery of those it was intended to honor, and I find it insulting. How embarrassing!

My opinion can be highly influenced by whether or not these are going to be charitable.

The sound of Country music, who actually did capitalize on 9/11, with songs like "Have You Forgotten." Chet Atkins knew it in the sixties, but I don't think anyone could forecast that so many people would use other people's emotions to sell a product.collin wrote:CHA-CHING
