Nice one Ron!

I don't think I would have ever even thought about trying to restore one that was that far gone; and it turned out so nice!
(shows you what I know :))

You've got a good eye for projects.

Nice work on this from your luthiers, Ron. 8)

I might have to contact them for a (much smaller, less involved) job.

Terrific job, Ron, and a big tip of the hat to your luthiers!

I have a Katrina victim '66 360/12 that's in process for a customer in Louisiana. Also Jetglo--the body was curled like a potato chip when I got it. I'll post photos when it's done. I only hope it looks as good as your JG!

Ron, you turned this guitar back into a beauty again. It's really nice, and I applaud your braveness to do it. I'd be very nervous about doing it. What made you want to do the project?

More Rics in the Big Easy other than a '86 1997 and '87 360/12V64??? Tell me more, Paul!

It's funny you mention that Paul...every time I hear about a fresh weather system hitting the Gulf/Florida I can't help but think about all those rare Ricks in the potential firing line... Makes you wonder how many have bitten the dust over the years as a result of flood/hurricane etc.. Look forward to your shots of restoring that 12 string over the coming weeks...

Ron, thanks for posting. I have a '64 365 NS that had been butchered as well. Seeing your before/after pics gives me hope. :D

I wasn't in the shop the day Ron dropped this guitar off. He always brings cool projects in. However when I first received this project I almost had a heart attack. I too looked at this guitar looooong time, just shaking my head, thinking to myself "why do people touch their guitars... other than playing them". It took my awhile to wrap my head around this one. Yet when I started to "peel" this guitar apart, trying to find a place to start, I discovered one problem after another. That is when I realized in 20+ years of restoration I had finally discovered the ONE.... the worst guitar(at least caused by human intervention)that I had to restore. I knew then I was in a long and hard battle. I thought about this guitar a long time and would keep coming back to it day after day, week after week, until I finally came up with a game plan as well as the courage to begin. I slowly began to reconstruct the guitar and after completion was amazed at how stable and beautiful the final result came out. As Ron stated I now know a Ric form the inside out. It turned out to be a fun project as well as a satisfying one.
