Dead Toaster Pickup

Post by gareth »

I've got a problem with the reissue toaster that I have installed on my 1975 4001. It's gone dead. Usually when this happens, it's usually a broken wire or soldered joint that's come undone from use, but after opening it up and checking everything, all seems well connected and in place. I've checked all the way through to the jackplate and it all seems fine. It has the newer wiring with the vintage tone circuit.

So, I have a multi meter. What should I start looking for to track this down ?

The first thing I would check is that the wires are not shorted at the base of the pickup, as the hot and ground wires are extremely close together, at least on all that I have seen. Sometimes they can get twisted up just enough to touch.
