Interesting interview with Frank Allen in the current issue of British magazine "Guitar & Bass" February 2012 Vol 23 No 5. Covering early years, joining Searchers, gear collection, recording info, playing style and some great pictures. Yes the Ric 4001 does make an appearance!

Jamie: I have heard of this and hope to get a chance to read the article soon. Thanks for the reminder.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I think I'm going to subscribe to this magazine this year, a few other articles in there as well which I find interesting. Should of mentioned the McCartney tabs.

I have emailed the editor and told him off for describing the 4001JG as a "4001s".
As I mentioned on the Chris Squire forum Guitar and Bass Magazine is a great monthly and theres always plenty of vintage stuff in there.
Has Frank got a 4001s?
An RM possibly?

I asked Frank, here is the reply.

"There were a couple of mistakes you could point out if you want.

Yes, it is a 4001S;
With regard to slapping` it is the 2nd and 4th beats I slap not the 2nd and 3rd which would be very odd.
And the Cliff Bennett album seems to have become a Booker T album.

There will be a few more but I haven`t listed them yet".
